چکیده

We have mapped the [C i] P1– P0 emission at 492 GHz toward the supernova remnant Cas A. We detect [C i] emission from the periphery of the diffuse Photon Dominated Region (PDR) covering the disk of Cas A, as traced by the carbon recombination lines, as well as from the denser PDRs associated with the molecular clouds towards the south-east. [C i] emission is detected from both the Perseus and Orion arm molecular clouds, with the −47 km s Perseus arm feature being strong enough to be detected at all positions. We estimate the C/CO relative abundance to be 0.2 at the position of the identified CO clouds and > 1 for most of the cloud. Here we show that the distribution of [C i] emitting regions compared to the C region and molecular cloud is consistent with a scenario involving PDRs. Using physical models for PDRs we constrain the physical properties of the [C i] line-forming regions. We estimate the densities of the [C i] emitting regions to be between 10 and 10 cm. Based on rather high volume filling factors (∼ 50%) we conclude that [C i] emission mainly arises from diffuse neutral gas in the Perseus arm.

The Supernova Remnant Cas A at Millimeter Wavelengths

We used the BIMA array to map the supernova remnant Cas A from 28 to 87 GHz with 2 to 7 angular resolution. Data from 75 to 87 GHz, with 19 pointing centers were combined with single dish data to form a completely sampled image. These new BIMA images were compared with VLA images at 1.5 and 5 GHz to look for spectral index variations across Cas A. The images were spatially filtered and convolve...

An Absolute Flux Density Measurement of the Supernova Remnant Casseopia A at 32 GHz

We report 32 GHz absolute flux density measurements of the supernova remnant Cas A, with an accuracy of 2.4%. The measurements were made with the 1.5-meter telescope at the Owens Valley Radio Observatory. The antenna gain had been measured by NIST in May 1990 to be 0.505 ± 0.007 Jy . Our observations of Cas A in May 1998 yield Scas,1998 = 194.0 ± 4.7 Jy. We also report absolute flux density mea...

Conical Conformal Antenna Design using the CPM Method for MIMO Systems

Abstract- In this article, the design of conformal antennas has been discussed using the characteristic modes (CM) method. For this purpose, the vector wave function(VWF) has been utilized to achieve a two-dimensional mapping of the conformal antenna. In designing and analyzing of cone-shaped antennas applicable for multi-input multi-output (MIMO) systems, the most important goal is to achieve ...

Substructures Revealed by the Sunyaev{zel'dovich Eeect at 150 Ghz in the High Resolution Map of Rx J1347{1145

We report on mapping observations toward the region of the most luminous X-ray cluster RX J1347{ 1145 (z = 0:45) through the Sunyaev{Zel'dovich eeect at 21 GHz and 150 GHz with the Nobeyama 45-m telescope. While a low angular resolution image at 21 GHz (beam-size FWHM of 76 00) shows a consistent feature with the ROSAT/HRI X-ray image, a higher angular resolution image (FWHM = 13 00) at 150 GHz...
